Venus

Venus can be seen in the sky as the beautiful “morning star” and then later in her cycle she appears as the “evening star”.

The sign that your Venus is in reflects what you value in love and art.  How you express your power to attract people and possessions to you.  The feminie principle, what moves you, how you communicate, the desire for union.  How you love and like to be loved.

The myth surrounding the planet Venus is associated with the Roman Goddess of love and beauty of the same name, “Venus” and the Greek Goddess Aphrodite.  This goddess has many faces, not all positive. She was unable to tolerate life, or people if they failed to measure up to her high expectations and perfectionism.  Therefore, our venus sign can describe the disappointments and disillusionment we experience in life.  Or somewhere we feel compelled to contribute to make the world a better place.

Aphrodite disliked any competition.  When competing in a beauty contest alongside goddesses Athene and Hera, she unashamedly stripped naked in front of the judges, a ploy to win the contest.  The sign our Venus is in, reveals not only our determination, but insecurities and feelings of self-doubt which can be expressed as jealousy and envy.  And, how we deal with those, we consider to be  our competition.

Aphrodite wore a girdle which she describes as magical and believed it  gave her the power to captivate and enslave men.  In the 90’s the material girl and modern, goddess Madonna, (a Venus in Leo girl) re-invented herself by adorning herself in a designer girdle and adding a ’cone’ shaped bra.  She shocked, tantalised and enchanted the world in her stage shows, music clips and films.

For a man, the sign his Venus is in, describes the type of woman he is attracted to.  I have Venus in Cancer and my partner has the same placement, therefore we are both sensitive, value family life and  both enjoy working from home.  Interestingly, he is an architect and is currently designing our new home!  Do you get the idea?  Check out where “his” Venus resides!

Venus rules both Taurus and Libra, this simply means that she is   at home in these signs.  In Taurus, she describes your values in the tangible world and your appreciation of beauty.  In Libra she describes your values in love and how you relate to others.

Venus’ orbit is approximately 13 ½ months.  Venus travels within 50’ (degrees), of the Sun and is therefore, in the same sign as the Sun or 2 signs either side.

Venus rules Friday and you can  honour her by beautifying your home and pampering yourself eg. A facial, massage or a relaxing bath.
